Second life is a serious waste of time. I gave it up pretty quick - I've got better things to do.

thanks for the hat tip :) I took the data directly from the peition website, http://www.bmapetition.org.uk. As far as I remember from the research I did in my degree, you can usually get Stats from the Office for National Statistics site: http://www.statistics.gov.uk. and Google Scholar is often interesting, but bear in mind that some of the journals (like Family Planning Perspectives) sometimes have a little of their own agenda!

God bless you

When Jesus gave the Sermon On The Mount he was possibly talking about the town of Safed. Even at night the city could be seen from the valley below

Be salt and light to a crooked and perverse genration!

Amen

In earlier times, salt was used as a preservative, or antiseptic. The influence of Christianity on society could also be seen as a preservative effect on morality, and as an antiseptic against immorality.

By the way, I went to see Brother Yun speak at a meeting here in Northern Ireland last year. What a disappointment. From the book, I had imagined him as a humble Godly man with a steely spirit and a strong faith. I suspect that since he has left China and come to the West and been given star treatment everywhere he goes, his humility has suffered a bit. He came across as someone who was used to being applauded for talking about his exploits as a persecuted Christian, as a folk hero, who has told his stories so often that he now feels they have to be embelished that little bit more every time, just to keep everyone's attention. There is no mention in his book of some of the miracles he now claims in his speaking engagements, and there is also very little reflection now of the book's focus on scripture and the power of God to change lives.
When he started describing in dramatic detail how he raised his mother from the dead over the phone, I almost got up and walked out! Sad that pride and adulation can corrupt people so easily.
